HISTORY OF DENTAL IMPLANTOLOGY

ABSTRACT:

Dental implantology is one of the fastest developing fields of dentistry. However, it has come a long way to become a practice we are familiar with. This article focuses on the milestones in the history of dental implantation since ancient times until modern days. The most outstanding persons and breakthroughs are noted here. A general outline of current state of the art is given and direction of further research in dental implantology is also mentioned. Key Words: history, dental implant, alveolar bone, tooth, surgery, osseointegration, graft.
