Quality measures should be used to monitor and reduce racial/ethnic incongruities in obstetrics. The nature of obstetric care generally fluctuates and racial and ethnic differences in obstetric and perinatal outcomes continue. Developing evidence suggests that the nature of care adds to racial and ethnic aberrations in obstetrical and perinatal outcomes.
