ABSTRACT:

In present study C. perfringens were isolated from the fishes of Quetta, Balochistan. Total 240 samples were collected out of which 60% were positive for C. perfringens while 40% were negative. The area wise distribution of positive sample between Kasi road market was 21%, Joint road market was 25%, and Summugli road market was 13%. The C. perfringens was confirmed through gram staining, different biochemical tests and different sugar fermentation tests. The different drug result showed that C. perfringens was sensitive to Erythromycin (12mm), Spectinomycin (6mm), Lincomycin (15mm), Meropenem (15mm), and Oxytatracillin (24mm), while C. perfringens was resistant to Metronidazole, Trimethoprim, and Oxacillin antibiotics. The fallowing biochemical tests such as VP, Indole, Catalase, Oxidase were negative for Clostridium perfringens. The sugar fermentation tests such as Glucose, Sucrose, Sorbitol, and Lactose were positive for Clostridium perfringens, while Mannitol was not fermented by Clostridium perfringens. Key words: Clostridium, Perfringens, Prevalence, Quetta, Balochistan
