EFFICACY OF BUPIVACAINE AND FENTANYL COMBINATION IN REDUCTION OF PAIN DURING LABOUR IN PREGNANT WOMEN

ABSTRACT:

Labour pain can be effectively treated by epidural analgesia. Two third of American women receive epidural analgesia by epidural catheters which is the most effective method of pain relief during labour. Objective of this study was to determine the mean pain score after administration of bupivacaine plus fentanyl during labour Study Design: Randomized controlled trial Setting: Department of Anesthesia, DHQ hospital Mainwali Duration: Six months after approval from the research review committee Material & Methods:Group- I received bupivacaine 0.1%±2 mcg/ml fentanyl in 10 ml normal saline. Visual Analogue Scale was used to assess the pain score during labour. Results: Mean pain score was recorded as 1.3+0.4 with significant reduction from baseline (P value 0.001).
