ABSTRACT:

Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne tropical disease caused by the dengue virus. Symptoms typically begin three to fourteen days after infection. These may include a high fever, headache, vomiting, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash. Recovery generally takes two to seven days. This cross-sectional study was conducted at DHQ Hospital Gujrawala for a period of three months i.e. August 2019 to Nov. 2019. All the patients presenting with fever, chills and headache were included in the study. Patients of all the age and either gender were included. The mean age of the patients was 34.54±3.45 years with minimum age of 23 years and maximum age of 52 years. A total of 282 patients presented with the history of fever, chills and headache and were labelled as suspected cases. Out of 282, only 52 (18.44%) patients were positive. Out of 52 patients, 30 (57.69%) were males and 22 (42.31%) were females. In our study, prevalence of dengue fever among outdoor patients was low. However the patients who were suffering from dengue fever should be isolated in special wards and proper preventive measures should be taken Keywords: Dengue fever, outdoor department
