ABSTRACT:

Abstract: The present study examined the effects of FicusCarica (F. Carica) on the learning and memory abilities of mouse model of Alzheimer's disease. We employed a Morris water maze to examine the spatial memory in this mice line with or without F. Carica extract treatment. We identified that after 4 weeks of administration of F. Carica extracts at 300 mg/kg and 500 mg/kg improved the performance of the mice in the learning and the memory retrieval phases of the Morris maze. Ethanolic extract of F. Carica was utilized to assess nootropic activity, result of extract on studying as well as remembrance in mice was assessed by utilizing the morris water maze model. The obtained ethanolic extract of F. Carica in the morris water maze model, resulted in decreasing in Escape Latency, Probe Trail which is designative of learning and memory abilities. The results suggested that the ethanolic extract of Ficus Carica enhances learning and memory in mice. We conclude that pharmacological treatment with F. Carica extract is beneficial at the later stages of Alzheimer's disease. Key words: Ficus Carica, Nootropic activity, Morris water maze, learning ability, memory ability.
