COVID-19: PATHOPHYSIOLOGY, TREATMENT AND PREVENTION

ABSTRACT:
Recently, an outbreak of novel corona virus (2019 n CoV) changed the global perspective of healthcare since early December 2019. It has been declared the sixth public health emergency of international concern by the World Health Organization (WHO) and named as corona virus disease 2019 (COVID -19). While over a million people worldwide are now confirmed to be infected with COVID -19, we do not yet have empirical cure or vaccine for this potentially fatal disease. This review highlights origin, transmission, current statistics by WHO (till 11th September 2020), pathophysiology, prevention and treatment approaches for the disease. Currently implemented therapeutic strategy and ongoing clinical trials of the vaccines with respect to the disease has also been discussed in the review.
