Abstract :

Milk adulteration poses significant health risks and economic consequences. Mid-Infrared Spectroscopy (MIRS) has emerged as a powerful tool for rapid and accurate detection of contaminants. Recent advances in MIRS technology enable simultaneous identification of multiple adulterants, including veterinary drugs, toxins, and chemical additives. This non-destructive method offers improved sensitivity, specificity, and speed compared to traditional detection methods. Quantitative analysis capabilities allow for precise monitoring and control. Portable MIRS devices and expanded spectral libraries enhance on-site analysis and contaminant identification. Integration with other technologies further strengthens detection capabilities. This review highlights MIRS applications in milk adulteration detection, emphasizing its potential to ensure dairy product quality and safety. The study demonstrates MIRS’s efficacy in protecting consumers and promoting integrity in the dairy industry, underscoring its significance in food safety and quality control.
