Abstract :
Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and homeopathy systems are primarily plant-based and have a rich history of medicinal plants. Over 80% of modern drugs are derived directly from medicinal plants, playing a vital role in pharmaceutical science research. Herbal cosmetics are preparations containing phytochemicals from various botanical sources that influence skin functions and provide nutrients for healthy skin or hair. The demand for herbal medicines is increasing due to their skin friendliness and lack of side effects. The skin is the largest organ of the body, covering about 20 square feet and accounting for approximately 15% of the total adult body weight. Lotions are liquid preparations applied to the skin to enhance beautification, increase blood circulation, emolliency, astringency, skin freshness, bleaching, and other medicinal properties. Acalypha indica L. contains leaves, petioles, flowers, fruits, and seeds, with ethnomedical uses including wound healing, hemoprotective, antioxidant, immunostimulant, and anti-inflammatory properties. In cosmetics and pharmaceutical products, ingredients like saturated fatty acids, cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol, triethanolamine, glycerine, methylparaben, bentonite, and dioxosilane are used to create effective products. The formulation of a herbal lotion involves careful analysis of various physical, chemical, and stability parameters to ensure the quality, safety, and efficacy of the product.
