Abstract :
Ropinirole, a selective non-ergot dopamine D2/D3 receptor agonist, is widely used for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease (PD) and Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS). Its therapeutic relevance necessitates accurate, sensitive, and reliable analytical methods for its determination in pharmaceutical formulations. This review highlights the optimization of various analytical parameters for ropinirole determination using UV spectroscopy, High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), High-Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC), and Ultra-High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (UHPLC). The methods differ in mobile phase composition, solvents, detection wavelengths, linearity range, Limit of Detection (LOD), and Limit of Quantization (LOQ). Comparative data from multiple references illustrate the suitability and sensitivity of each method. HPLC and UHPLC techniques demonstrated higher sensitivity and broader linearity ranges, making them more favorable for routine analysis. This review serves as a valuable resource for researchers and analysts aiming to select or optimize the most effective analytical approach for ropinirole quantification in various pharmaceutical and research applications.
