Authors :

Hasan M.H. Muhaisen†

Abstract :

For the first time five compounds have been isolated from the roots of Bergenia ligulate. Lanost-7(8)-en-3-formyl-6-acetoxy-11,15-diol-26-heptanoxy-27-oic acid, Urs-12(13)-en-3-22-diol-15-formyl-21-glucoside, 9,11-Seco-lanost-20(22)-en-3-formyl-18-phenoxyoate-12-D-glucose, Sumatrol, and 5`-Methyleriodictyol-3`-O--D-galactopyranosyl(14)--L-rhamno- pyranose. Their structures were elucidated by chemical and physical data (IR, UV, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and Mass spectra).
Keywords: Bergenia ligulata, Roots, Terpenoids, Flavonoids, Trihydroxybenzoic acid and Chemical Structure.
