Abstract :

Background: MetS is a significant public health concern characterized by a cluster of metabolic disturbances, including obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and insulin resistance. This condition substantially increases the risk of developing serious health issues such as cardiovascular disease (CVD) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Understanding its implications is crucial for effective management and prevention strategies.
Aim: This overview explores the importance of early detection, effective management strategies, and the impact of MetS.
Methods: This is a comprehensive review using PUBMED and Google Scholar as primary databases for articles collected until 2021.
Conclusion: MetS poses a serious health threat, requiring a comprehensive strategy for diagnosis and treatment that emphasizes lifestyle changes and possible medication to lower the risks of heart disease and diabetes. Effective diagnostic methods include measuring waist circumference, assessing blood pressure, and evaluating glucose and cholesterol levels, which help in early detection and management of the syndrome.
Keywords: MetS – Diagnosis – Management – Impact
