Abstract :

Severe pneumonia is a common condition encountered by intensive care clinicians. Recent results regarding microbiology, diagnosis, and treatment, particularly the care of critically ill patients with acute respiratory failure, are highlighted in this article. Comprehensive search through electronic databases; PubMed and Embase for all relevant articles published in English language up to the middle of 2022. Despite advances in antimicrobial and life-supporting treatments, severe pneumonia remains the leading cause of admission to the intensive care unit (ICU) and death. Immediate and effective antimicrobial treatment is necessary.
