Abstract :
Traffic accidents are a leading cause of injury and death worldwide, making immediate first aid interventions critical for improving survival rates and reducing the severity of injuries. This systematic review examines current best practices in first aid responses during traffic accidents, focusing on key life-saving interventions, challenges faced by bystanders and first responders, and the tools and techniques most effective in stabilizing victims before professional medical help arrives. A comprehensive literature search was conducted to evaluate studies, clinical guidelines, and case reports related to traffic accident first aid. Findings indicate that early intervention through scene assessment, airway management, hemorrhage control, and communication with emergency services significantly improves outcomes. However, the lack of public first aid training, panic at accident scenes, and legal uncertainties for bystanders remain persistent challenges. Recommendations for improving first aid responses include expanding public first aid education, increasing access to essential first aid kits in vehicles, and leveraging technology for real-time guidance. The review highlights the need for ongoing research into innovative first aid tools and the impact of widespread public training on traffic accident outcomes.
Keywords: First aid, traffic accidents, emergency response, bystander intervention, hemorrhage control, airway management, public training, survival outcomes, first aid tools, emergency medical services.
