Abstract :
Microencapsulation is a process used to cover or protect active substances like drugs or nutrients inside small capsules. Excipients play an important role in this process as they help in forming the capsule wall, improving stability, and controlling the release of the core material. Different types of excipients such as polymers, surfactants, and stabilizers are used depending on the method and purpose of microencapsulation. This review explains how excipients affect the efficiency, strength, and release behavior of microcapsules. It also highlights commonly used materials and techniques in pharmaceutical microencapsulation. Understanding the role of excipients helps in developing better and more effective drug delivery systems.
