Abstract :
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is a long-term disease where the body immune system attacks its tissues.[1] This disease requires long-term treatment that suppresses the system, which makes patients more likely to get infections[2]. Tuberculosis is one of the common infections that these patients can get.[3]
This case study is about a 19-year- female patient who has Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and pulmonary tuberculosis[4]. She finished her tuberculosis treatment.[5] Later had recurrent respiratory problems, including cough, chest pain and lung inflammation.[6] The doctors found out that she had bronchiectasis and ground-glass opacities in her lungs and a bronchoscopy showed that she had changes in her lungs due to her weakened immune system.[7]
The patient was treated with immunosuppressants, antifungal therapy and supportive care and her condition was continuously monitored.[8] This case shows how hard it is to manage a disease with coexisting infections and how important it is to detect problems early monitor drug use carefully and have a team of doctors and healthcare professionals working together[9]
