Abstract :
Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla and Chamaemelum nobile) is a popular medicinal herb that has been used for a long time and is getting more and more scientific attention. This comprehensive review looks at its phytochemical makeup, pharmacological effects, medical uses, clinical evidence, and safety profile. Chamomile has a lot of bioactive chemicals in it, such as flavonoids (like apigenin), terpenoids, and essential oils (like bisabolol and chamazulene). These ingredients help it fight inflammation, protect against free radicals, kill germs, ease anxiety, and stop spasms. People have used it in several forms, like teas, extracts, capsules, and topical creams, to treat digestive problems, skin problems, anxiety, insomnia, oral health, and menstruation pain. Chamomile is widely thought to be safe, but more standardized clinical research are needed to prove its therapeutic effectiveness and find the best ways to use it in modern medicine. Chamomile is a useful herbal treatment with a lot of pharmacological promise in many areas of health.
Keywords: Chamomile, Matricaria chamomilla, Chamaemelum nobile, phytochemicals, pharmacological activities, therapeutic applications.
